Funerals

Yesterday I did the funeral of a much loved wife and mother. Against all the odds the church was full mostly of elderly ladies all of whom were members of the golden age group in the village. This morning I attend the funeral of a man who was my spiritual advisor for years and who gave me away on my wedding to David. He had been the rector of this parish 20 years ago and we are expecting an overflow in church. This means we all have to be there very early indeed and those pews are not the best to sit on for hours! I am tempted to take a cushion. Peter would appreciate that but others may not so I probably won't. What I will do though is take my iphone which has a notebook on it and I will start to write my Mother's Day sermon!
