Wise old women!

There is so much going on this weekend!  It's not just the Jubilee weekend, there are all sorts of other things happening, some good, some sad, some just hard work!
Talking to someone earlier I said that the sermon for this week had virtually written itself...so much was self evident!
Its almost true......there's actually too much to say...so economy of speech is called for!
There's giving thanks for 60 stable years of having one person on the throne....
There's a booklet I have to give out written by a woman about how to find God.....its called Way of Life..and its a gift from the diocese to all our regular communicants....
And of course its time to address the mystery of the Trinity, three in one person....Father , Son and Holy Spirit.
After sitting down to ponder all three things, all of which needed to be talked about I ended by asking for thanks for all the old women, who have lived long enough to be wise, starting with the Queen and working down to the flower ladies etc.
The longer we live, the more skills we acquire....in fact we might actually acquire Wisdom.....which is of course the Old Testament name for the Holy Spirit...according to Proverbs!
I know a lot of wise old women...so this week we are giving thanks for them...... where ever they are and what ever they are doing....   Lets hear it for the wise ones!
