Equal equals.

The course on Equality which is mandetary for me is bringing on all sorts of comments.....

For some people attending one such course has clearly been enlightening and a life changing experience. For others it has been a total waste of time.

I'm not really sure how much I'll get out of it...most of the "courses" I've attended have been reminders and endorsements of already formed views.

Someone recently took me to one side to explain kindly to me that of course dear , equality isn't just about racism.....she whispered the next bit....it's about homosexuality too. Her tone implied that naturally I might not know too much about this subject and that it wasn't really very"nice"

Short of telling her that some of my best friends were gay I was at a loss just for once!

The implication that people of my age might well be shocked by any sort of a difference to the norm is quite funny if it was not so sad.

We are all people.....men, women, children, all different colours, all different sizes ,all different interests....we are also equal....with the same human rights as everyone else...

Our gene pool is wonderfully diverse. It is the way we survive as a species.....no two people are the same!

We should celebrate our differences. Be thankful for all the colours and variations in what could be a dull world if we were all the same.

It's exploring all these variations in beliefs as well as in behaviour that makes life so interesting and full of joy....new things crossing our paths all the time....we just have to have minds open enough to welcome them all in..

I'll attend the bleep bleep course....but I am not promising to stay silent.....viva la difference!

I'd love to be the fly on the wall when you do speak out :)

I'm sure that there will be things that challenge and annoy, there were for me, but many more that opened my eyes wide.

So, go for it and I'm sure that you will enjoy it, even through gritted teeth :)
