Laying on of hands.

I am highly honoured today to be asked to be robed in the Cathedral for the priesting of our lovely curate. This involves of course assisting with the laying on of hands.
This part of the service was extremely emotional for me, at my  ordination not least by how many people turned up for it!
It was a very ecumenical affair. Besides about six C of E people there was a lady Methodist minister, a retired Franciscan and a Roman priest.
They explained that it was to pass on the apostolic succession.
So now I pass it on faithfully in my turn. ....I hope it carries as much love and awe as I felt on receiving mine.
It is a formal receiving of the Holy Spirit and the intense joy that accompanies it.
God is good!
