Love not hate.

Having looked at the readings for this week I find that the challenge is there.

"Love does no wrong to a neighbour, therefor love is the fulfilling of the law"

Wow...if only.

The sermon is in danger of being another visit to the notion of One God, several different names...

I can't even be flip about our present situation...here we have the Western world leaders trying to decide what to do about militant extremist Muslims.

I pray that sending drones, bombing, and other sorts of violence will not be the only means employed...

The situation is now so grave that many people would welcome the mass destruction we have at our disposal in this technological age.

The firms supplying arms most be very pleased....

Since we abandoned our stance against non interference in another country and sent troops into Iraq a whole generation of youth have been politicised . Armies of young determined men are intent on killing, kidnapping and subjugating us to make us adopt their religion and it's harsh laws.

The drones wiping out villages in Afganistan only stopped recently. Have we learned nothing?

Love is the fulfilling of Gods holy war....love not bombs!

I share your concerns. But the evil of what is going on in Iraq and Syria cannot be just ignored and hoping that Isis will listen seems a hopeless cause. Their answer to everyone who disagrees with them is violence of the most barbaric sort.

We know hos indiscriminate the 'shock and awe' campaign was in Iraq, and we have evidence of the indiscriminate nature of the so called targeted warfare of drones can be. Civilians always seem to be in the firing line along with those being targeted. Gaza demonstrates that vividly in the eyes of the world media. Many more innocents died than actual fighters.

I don't have any answers, but still fail to understand the inactivity at the UN, and the worrying development of the 'hawks' advocating ad-hoc partnerships with countries like Iran (yesterdays enemy and perhaps tomorrows) to deal with Isis? That partnership is based on a Islamic divisions, yesterdays enemy is now our friend for convenience, not knowing whether we'll be creating a bigger mess in the future for us to fight in 1, 2 5 or 10 years time.

Formal intervention military and political needs to be UN Led, with a total coalition of the whole world to fight evil, not a self-interested group of nations fighting for their own gain or political ends.

The great powers are to blame for the virtual disenfranchisement of the UN, using their veto's and block votes to stop action earlier, now we reap the whirlwind.
