The route to dementia.

I have allergies. It's not just hay fever, I can and do sneeze for Britain most mornings. We have never bothered to find out my triggers, I have just accepted that my hay fever, asthma and eczema are all part of the same problem and in middle age I learned how to deal with the worst of them which was waking up every night sneezing.
I took an antihistamine tablet.
This ensured a good nights sleep and kept the sneezes at bay till I woke up!
So this morning there is a warning that this habit can cause dementia in the elderly!
Oh dear...I've not tried to live my life without anti histamine for about forty years!
I've just arrived at a point where I am reasonably comfortable with my ailments so now I have to start wondering whether the cure for one set of problems may bring a worse set in its wake!
The doctor on the radio this morning advocated finding other solutions!
Getting to sleep would be easy. A glass of scotch every night would do the trick....
But it wouldn't stop the sneezing...
Oh dear.....
Maybe I've already gone gaga and it's too late to do anything...
Only time will tell on this one.

Jean, once more I share all your problems and your solution too, but I take myself off antihistamine and Beconase around end of October and re-start them in March.
This has been going on for at least 45 years so if you develop dementia I will be the one ahead of you holding the unlit lantern :-)
