More things in heaven etc....

Today was the last visit in Iceland. We have seen huge waterfalls, long fiords with snowy borders....it is an extremely beautiful country....but I couldn't live here....

Now is the moment I've been putting off for days....it's time to talk about the trolls.

Every day they have been spoken of...with laughter and embarrassment but it has become clear that to some degree the Icelanders have accepted this legend.

The story is that a young woman otherwise known as Eve married and had children. When God was due to visit them she didn't want him to know how many children she had so she hid them under a stone. God of course was not fooled and said" From now on your children will never be seen again"

And they weren't and are to this day the trolls who have had a large influence on the Icelanders....

It does not do to annoy a troll. They get peevish if crossed!

A road due to be built had to be moved because their rock was in the way......

The young woman who was our guide had a large rock in her basement that no one will remove so the house was built around it...

Trolls or no trolls and please be aware that I am not debunking them, I have thoroughly enjoyed this visit...
