Advice from the young.

I have remembered something which made me giggle and actually squirm with a mixture of embarrassment and unholy laughter!
During the period when David and I were courting...... It's not quite the right word but it will do in this context , my son was staying with me.
Every time I left the house I often failed to tell him where I was going and he started to make guesses based on my reluctance to give him any information at all.
He finally realised that I was "seeing someone" and far from pleasing him it sent him into thoughtful mode.
Finally he decided to tackle the problem head on.
"Mum" he said, "We need to talk about this"
I listened fascinated by his tact and determination to instruct anyway. The gist of it was that times had changed since I was a young women...he knew I was in no danger of getting pregnant any more but nevertheless. He paused. I wondered what was coming.
He then instructed me on safe sex!
Oh dear....our positions had gone in a complete circle since the days I used to lecture him on not getting any girls pregnant or worse!
There is no correlation to be drawn from this in relation to my present situation...but it has made me laugh a lot today! I miss my lovely boy!

What a lovely story and I can understand why you found it so funny.

The younger generation can be quite prudish where their parents are concerned, even when we're entering out dotage, when despite the many programs about being active sexually into old age, most of us (and I include myself) are much happier with the companionship and friendship we find in our relationship. And holding hands or linking arms and the occasional hug is more on our mind than athletics.
