Emergency Ward 10

The midweek communion this morning was sparsely attended and those who did come were all either very old or very ill. As they stumbled up to the altar I did think I should have been taking the communion to them in their seats but I was afraid of causing offense by offering it. The elderly priest who came up with great difficulty said afterwards "You had emergency ward 10 in here this morning Jean." Says it all really. Not tragic , just an admission that as we get older mundane things get complicated.
