Daft conversation

Surreal conversation just had with the builder who is working by the front door.
"Would you mind if I just take the dog out this way?"
"Can't you take him through the back door?
"No he won't use the back door."
"Why not?
"He's frightened of the cat."
"I didn't know you had a cat."
"He died a year ago"

Oh dear!   His worst suspicions are now confirmed!
