Answers on a postcard please.

We have a puzzle to sort out today.
I found this yesterday attached to the inside of the front door! Thinking it was an Autumn leaf I pulled it off and then looked at it!
Then dropped it. It was not as seen above. It's little legs were pink. Coming out of its head was a large blob of mucous. The whole thing was about two inches long. It was revolting so I threw it onto the grass nearbye.
It's image stayed with me all night so I looked again this morning. It had not moved but it had changed. It's little legs are now covered in something scaly. This made me anxious that when I put it out it was still alive and growing. The mucous had gone. I wonder if it was a sort of egg sack that fed it.
I worried. I'm silly like that but I had no idea what it was or how it had got into the house. Yesterday the door was not standing open. The creature was close to the letter opening....which was shut.
Two things constituted the puzzle. What was it? A bird just hatched came to mind but there were no wings.
Secondly how had it got there?
Today I have photographed it. The above is the first one. Then I turned it over and some of the mystery was revealed.
It's obviously a toad. We do have them around here.....
But some things are still unclear. It arrived naked and now is clothed.....can dead things regenerate ?
And how did it get into the house? Did its mummy post it to us?
Answers on a postcard please!

Cornwall do be powerful full of strange creatures Jean. Given your calling are you surprised they choose you to visit?

No. I am getting used to the unusual! The really unnerving thing though was that from being chucked out to my examination the next day the pink bones of its legs and feet had grown a covering! I don't want to think I threw a living thing out!

It just goes to show that there's more in nature than we can actually imagine :)
