Hand in hand

It was a strange New Years Eve...but productive.

I am hoping the same for 2014!

Yesterday brought chaos yet again but we weathered the visits of helpful people bringing joy and the two men working to fix our heating and put in a temporary stair lift.

Carrying David up and down the stairs was a huge test of strength for the ambulance men on Monday....David wept as they carried him, remembering his own strength now wasted away by this unforgiving tumour.

This temporary lift will be put in place on Friday whilst a custom built one is put together. It will take a month...living in an ancient farmhouse brings it's own idiosyncrasies! Once that's installed life will get easier for us both.

Having lived in bungalows most of my adult life balancing trays up and down steps are a severe test of my strength and dexterity . So the stair lift has to be ble to carry trays of food as well as David!

Looking foward into the unknown and difficult territory that is 2014 brings hope as well as fear, laughter as well as tears as we both put our hands into the hand of God and each other and stumble forward together.

I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year

Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown

And he replied, Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God.

That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way

Minnie Haskins.
