Blue sea!

It is one of life's ironies that my husband is now in a nursing home in the village where I lived when we first met. Going back there and visiting him feels almost surreal. I used to live just around the corner and was a regular visitor with my lovely golden Crispin.....

The sitting room looks out to sea and as we passed the old ladies would invite us in fairly frequently . Crispin was a very accomplished pastoral visitor....he would lay his head on their knees and look into their eys soulfully...

I took communion in sometimes and knew lots of the staff as well as the residents quite well. They knew they could ring me at any time, even the middle of the night and I would turn out. I have given quite a few the last rites in my previous life.....

Visiting my own dear husband feels very weird....

It's in a beautiful position looking out to sea..and David has one of the best rooms...Gull rock, Nare head and the Dodman point are all easily identifiable from there...it's a view I have always loved and could see from my dining room. It is also the view from David's room but much further away! He looks out on glory every day and there have been some spectacular rainbows...

The sea really is blue here even on the greyest days.

It's a far cry from our cruises but for the moment it is enough...even without a glass of cheer in our hands!

Sounds lovely, but all the same it's not quite home is it?

Jean, I'm sorry how things are going for you and David right now. I think of you often and know that God will be with you no matter what and yet, you have much to endure. You are in my prayers.
