Regeneration

Yesterday I ventured down into St Mawes for the first time since I took David down to get Christmas presents for his boys.

The devastation down there is simply shocking. The road is broken, the shops boarded up , sea walls are breached . Some clearing up has removed the worst of the debris but this little village has taken a huge knock.
The parallel with my loss is I suppose inevitable....and yet St Mawes is still in business. The sailing club will cater after my husbands funeral, even with boarded up windows....
Most shops were open as were the pubs...people strolled around yesterday in bright sunshine...I realised then that there was no one I recognised....the visitors had arrived...
Sightseers walked around, boys on noisy bikes roared along debris strewn roads, the harbour car park was half full! Amazingly people were not there for the beauty and tranquility but to witness the destruction reeked by the sea!
I am sure that it will all be repaired and put back to normal fairly soon...which gives me confidence that the same will happen to me...me and St Mawes will recover in time .....please God.
