Harvest supper!

Last night was great fun! Instead of fireworks we had the harvest supper! This is trafitional in most parishes here abouts and I have to admit that it's been some years since I attended one.

This one was well thought out and executed with an army of helpers serving sausages and baked beans and lots of wine .....

And then came the quiz.

No one asked the questions, instead we had quiz sheets on each table and after the debris of eating was cleared we settled down to solve the puzzles, answer the questions and argue over the correct answers...

This of course brought out the competitive streak in us all and it reminded me of the last trip David and I did on the Queen Elizabeth before he became unwell.

On our table In the dining room we had the ultimate in competitive behaviour...

Every day there were quizzes . The trivia questions were asked in the "pub" but were often answered later at dinner! Desputes arose over the validity of the questions...if they were slanted towards a particular country, if the question master was biased. If other teams were cheating...

It had completely taken over two peoples cruising experience. ..on a table of six people four of us were mere by standers, witnesses to the triumph or disgrace of the other couple...

David was less than impressed....."The clue is in the name," he said more than once. "It's trivia! Trivial "

In the end we moved tables...this was not a step that I had to take last night....every table needed one person keen to win! It wasn't me! We scored reasonably well and of course it provided a happy hour after a good meal...

The parish supper rocked! I might even go to another one! But not till next year of course...
