A learned response.

When my daughter was a small girl I worked in Rochdale where I taught English as a second language to mostly Muslim children.

Rosalind, then four went to a nursery school where many of her playmates were Bangladeshi .

One tea time we were asking her whether she liked her school,or not.

She said she didn't like one boy at all. We asked why.

"Because he's black!" she said .Everyone around the table froze. We asked her if she Iiked his sister. She nodded. Why? we asked.

"Because she's black." We all laughed. Relief all round....we had not got a baby racist in our midst!

No one is born racist. It has to be learned...
