Killing again!
The mass shooter in Las Vegas had 42 guns of various kinds in his home.
Forty two plus those he actually used.
Inevitably this reopens the argument once again of wether guns should be so easily bought in America.
That you can walk into a shop, pick up any sort of gun , buy the bullets and walk out again without any questions being asked is a complete mystery to most of us in this country.
Why?
This is a subject I have discussed with several friends over the years.
I have been amazed by the reaction of sensible pleasant people to the thought of making it illegal to own a gun or two...
They relish the right to bear arms...it is enshrined in their constitution. It goes back to the days when slowly the first settlers pushed across the continent to find new homes and freedom of worship.
Somehow this has assumed an almost religious zeal.
I have several times tried to talk to my friends across the pond but always I come up against the simple words. They have the right to bear arms...they are not giving this right up easily.
There are other ways of killing people as we have seen recently.
Bombs, vans driving into crowds of people....those who wish to destroy their fellow men can do it without guns....they just make it easier....
The number of people killed this time is appalling but somehow it makes it worse that no motive has apparently appeared. As yet we can only assume that he wasn't fighting any moral battles....he just wanted to use his toys to kill people...
Making it harder to buy guns would probably make it harder to do what this latest killer did in Las Vegas but as we have seen there are other ways of achieving their aims...somehow in twisted minds there is assumed glory in killing people...they take on the mantle of God in shooting or driving at a mass of innocent people.
And dying after having killed many others is part of the whole mind set...glorious martyrdom is I think part of the inner deal.
There is no point in trying to persuade our American cousins to make it harder to get hold of guns. It is an emotional, almost religious conviction that it is their absolute right to do so.
Let us pray.

Of course, Mr Trump says that "it's not the time to talk about gun control"
The main displays his callous attitude towards his own citizens. The Gun Lobby helped him into power, and he can't rock their boat. Indeed, he recently cancelled legislation put in place by his President Obama, that excluded anyone with a history of mental health issues buying or owning guns. At a stroke of the pen, 75,000 potential problem gun owners are enfranchised, alongside the millions who already possess them.
The man is absolutely below contempt.
