Depressing news.

Oh dear...and lots of other expletives. Listening to the news is just unbelievably horrid.
Another Isis arrack in New York, gender reassignment for small children, lots of people reporting unwanted sexual harassment, the threat of nuclear war , Trumps narcissistic rants, Spain's attempts to stop part of their country breaking away.
I can't remember another period when so much is happening across the world. Discontent is rife . One group of people blaming other groups seems almost routine.  Its not always connected with religion but often is.
I feel almost guilty for being comfortable , living in this glorious place on my own means that most of the horrors are not having any bad effects on me.
Once the truth about how Weinstein routinely used his position to sexually harass aspiring actresses was made public we all to some degree joined in. Most women have at some point of their lives been subject to unwanted sexual advances...but it's now being reported at Westminster in both the main parties by people who formulate our laws!
I find the whole picture emerging now very depressing. It does no one any good. It just shows us all that the sex drive is strong in us and that over years people have approached those they fancy clumsily in the mistaken belief that that was the accepted way of doing it.
Mass movement of refugees across the world, rape being used as a weapon of war, finding safe places for the dispossessed, all are contributing to the present discontent.
And I have not even mentioned Brexit.....
Back to my prayers.

Praying is obviously my way through much of this

What we have at the moment is a watershed in terms of the male culture that puts women in a position of subordination to men.

This is a culture where for men, anything goes and it's ok to touch, denigrate or put down women at their personal expense, just to feel superior or due to a misplaced belief that it is their right to abuse, who they like, knowing that many women will be cowed by their bullying, domineering attitude.

Much like those women in abusive relationships, who have to put up with violence and living in fear of the consequences of defying the person they live with, and my depend on for the roof over their head and food on the table.

Now, it has reached Parliament and the Defence Secretary has resigned, others are allegedly in the frame. Where will it end? Who knows, but cleaning house in government might be a first step to cleaning house in the country.
