New Years Eve
Here I am in Funchal, a place I know well. David and I bought time share here several years ago. I've been back quite a lot but this time on a cruise ship it feels different.
I have been off, taken a shuttle bus into town, walked round it and come back to the ship. It's very hot.
Every corner, every shop holds a memory or two.
Having walked the whole town I sat quietly in the Cathedral to find a noisy band was disrupting the peace just outside.
I find I'm becoming crabby.
The shops were mostly closed which surprised me since there are two other cruise ships moored up with us. Hundreds of extra bodies walking the streets....
I scuttled back to the security of Cunard and it's still only just gone eleven .
It is now confirmed. I have become old.
I didn't even buy anything!
I giggled at the shop where I bought Michael some underpants after he'd lost his! Don't ask!
I walked around shops I've bought things in in the past.
And then I went back to the bus. I didn't go up to our time share hotel....I confused them totally last time I was here on a cruise.
It's all feeling very negative right now so I must try to do better!
I start that process by ordering a Long Island iced tea.
So....I feel my feet on the slippery slope...

This might be the penultimate cruise. Hoping it got better, now that its new year, perhaps the resolution is to keep the cruising to a rowing boat on a pond :)
