Interregnum looming....

My diary is getting busy again...all sorts of events are scheduled for this summer, not least attending a day on safeguarding a long way from where I live.
My cars MOT falls due in the same month and last year it was away for almost a week!
In my diary is a date fixed for having a new smart electricity meter installed which will mean being cut off for some time..
The trick is to keep everything else moving at the same time.......
Some visitors are also in the diary.. I just need to keep it all separate.
My retirement seems to have been put off during this busy period....
I suppose this is the nature of my job.
If I’m needed I work.
This weekend we say goodbye to our present incumbent .
Several events means that there will be a lot of old friends arriving ....so I must take care not to get too tired.
Leaving the parish after retirement has always meant that the new person has a clear run.
This doesn’t work though when the assistant priest owns their own home in the parish...so I have learned to keep my head down so as not to interfere in any way...but we are a long way away from that right now.
Last time it took a couple of years before a new person was found.
People are asking my advise as an old hand at this but I’m staying very quiet....
A new set of people are setting out to tackle it all....but it’s nothing now to do with me apart from being available if needed.
Oh dear! Or words to that effect!
