Retirement?

About a year ago I thought it might be a good idea to retire. I was talked out of this by our incumbent because he was retiring.
So I stayed on....
I haven’t worked all that much this year...but I have enjoyed what I’ve done. .
But having been suspended for not attending a safe guarding course ( I was doing a funeral that day) I have now decided that the moment has come.
Retiring at 80 is not the end of the world but it is sad.
I am sorry not to be helping with the coming interregnum. But our very good. Curate is going to cope admirably..
There are all sorts of events over the next few weeks which I will not be going
to..I will not muddy the waters....
So I have been planning my next trip.
David and I used to go off every year on the world cruises...the longest we were away was about a month and I am now finding two weeks not quite long enough.
So I have found one in the Autumn which crosses the Atlantic, visits both the US and Canada and comes back with another six days at sea.
I paid for it yesterday so I am reeling slightly but it has taken the sting out of my retirement.
No one here knows any of this but word will get around soon enough.
Meanwhile I am planning my trips...Bloomingdales beckons!
