Weird world!
My feeling that I have somehow been moved to an alternative universe is growing. Nothing feels normal these days. In fact I am unsure what "normal" consists of just now.
An American President being rude to other heads of state after a high level meeting...
A government in this country governing by a slender majority whilst struggling to break free of our European partners.
Being suspended from ministry because I missed a Safeguarding course whilst doing a funeral.....
Good friends calling in to make sure I’m alright....
It’s all odd!
Today I am going to our present rectors last service...after he and his wife called in to present me with a bottle of wine and thank me for all my support...which is lovely but weird....
Other people asking for advice on finding a new vicar and how soon it can be achieved.
It’s all odd....and not just because I’m an old woman.
The bits that are personal to me are reinforced by the news from the rest of the world daily.
I can’t remember another period of my life when so many odd things are happening .
It’s certainly not dull. In fact a bit of quiet dullness would go down quite well right now.
I will set off early this morning not only to find my parking place but so that I can sit and pray before everyone else turns up.
Spending time on the bench close to what will one day be my grave is not as sad as it sounds.. over looking the creek watching the tide rise and fall is the most normal activity I can imagine right now.
So be it Lord...

I'm still sad that they've suspended your ministry for something so trivial. My license has been extended for three years, well past my 70th Birthday, So retirement isn't really an option now. Especially as our Vicar retires in November.
Surely your diocese could have asked why, before suspending you? Because it does seem to be a bit harsh, when you were actually carrying out an essential duty of any Priest.
I hope that they have a change of heart, and give you another chance.
Bloggers new rules are keeping all the comments down...in fact to nothing. The only person allowed to comment seems to be me....sorry...I enjoyed all your contributions!
