Lost!

Yesterday was a bit of an adventure...I got lost and then stuck in St Mawes!
Stuck meaning I took a road which was closed hoping to find a route to a friend who was expecting me.
I should just have phoned.
However intrepid traveller that I am I went down a road clearly labelled "closed"
And it was. It took an eighteen point turn to turn myself round otherwise I would have had to back out along a winding road for a mile or so.
I had company . A large van had taken the same route so we edged our way out together....sometimes me in front, sometimes him.
The lane finally took us past where I used to live and I relaxed a bit. Familiar territory helped!
The van hadn’t turned round and had reversed for miles...so when we finally got back onto the main road we waved at each other......comrades after miles of very slow progress.
I then had to get home...all attempts at arriving on my friends drive shelved for the time being...
I found a message from her on my phone telling me not to attempt it!
Too late clearly...so she arrived here, had a coffee and went ...I am just hoping she arrived back home safely...but as I’ve heard nothing to the contrary I think she’s safe.
Who could possibly imagine getting lost in a place I know so well?
Ah well, it’s all part of life’s rich pattern. I should be used to it by now!
