The glorious early spring weather is tempting us out right now. The sun shines.
It has actually been hot down here which is extraordinary in February.
No one has asked if it is another sign of global warming but together with the various natural disasters over the world it does seem to confirm it.
I still have friends who like President Trump dispute the whole idea of climate change.
I don’t know obviously, not being any sort of a scientist..but it does make sense together with yesterday’s warning that insect numbers are suffering.
I stopped using insecticide in my garden years ago now but I think my gardener may still use it.
The headlines in various papers yesterday proclaimed the death of humanity too if we lose our bees.
It’s fairly obvious that the insects who pollinate our crops are keeping our food supply intact.
Various strong insecticides have been banned for years but I have in the past found various ancient tins and bottles which I regret to say I did not throw out...as I should have done...but this week I will have a serious conversation with my gardener.
It’s not just insects that we try to get rid of, it’s also the moles...and various other small creatures...that damage growing trees and shrubs if we let them.
As a very old woman now I won’t see the end of the human race if it happens..but it is a solemn thought, that what we do or don’t do now may end in disaster for the world as we know it.
My only recourse is obviously to pray...and I do.

The early spring is worrying and the wild fires raging around the country, seem to point to an even hotter summer.
I'm not a great fan of hot weather, and miss the normally bright, but cool spring. We do what we can for the environment, if every individual took it seriously, not just big business and government, but every single person, doing their bit, would change things for the better.
If not, our grandchildren will resent us for our selfishness regarding their future.
