Having been awake for much of the night I have woken up very late..
The news hasn’t improved.
Afflicted by an old pain sleep evaded me.
This pain has visited me occasionally over the years. The doctor said to just stay in bed if it was bad...this was easy when I had a husband. Now on my own I have to get up obviously.
It doesn’t happen very often...and I associate it with the gardening I did yesterday whilst the sun shone brightly.
But during the night it brought me low. I got out of bed to put the kettle on in order to get a hot water bottle to hand and that helped.
I suppose I did spend too much time tugging out unwanted plants yesterday.
So I can live with this.
The old friend who was here last week just laughed if I complained about too much activity. He was adamant....I am in no position to complain that there were some things I can’t do anymore.
"You are over eighty! What do you expect?"
I suppose I’ve not spent a lot of time sitting around much...keeping mobile is important to me.
I will take it easier today. No more gardening...the pain is still with me this morning...
I am not expecting any visitors but I do have to get some clothes on! I’m not ready to conduct the day from my bed. Yet!

I have periodic pain from slipped discs. Yesterday evening I played table tennis, the turning and twisting to return balls, keeps me me fit and short bursts of activity and movement are supposed to be good for my poorly back.
Last night, I must have turned a little too sharply and predictably, the back is giving me a bit of pain. I do stretching exercises to relieve the pressure and trying to reseat the discs, however not much better this morning.
A trip to the Osteopath might be necessary if it doesn't improve in the next couple of days. She is able to work miracles, after a lot of manipulation, which finds my limbs going in strange, unaccustomed directions, but they really work.
I hope that by now your pain has gone, but if not, I can recommend an excellent Osteopath, whose ability to improve painful conditions is first class. Off course, North Kent is a long way to go, but you must have similar practitioners there in God's Country?
