Going out!

I have to take my car out somewhere this morning. Several places beckon.
But the main object is to keep it going.
It’s several days since I last started the engine due to the dreadful weather but last week I did start it and left it humming nicely on the drive for about half an hour.
The weather since has stopped any attempts at actually driving anywhere...
So this morning once again I will hopefully take it out for a run around the Roseland.
As has become usual on these occasions I do think about just not having a car....but I really couldn’t live here so far away from the village without the means of escape.
I need to know that I can get out quickly if I need to. I still get calls from people who need to talk or pray .
David used to offer to transport me to see people who just needed help or someone to talk to so I admit that I’m not as quick to respond as I used to be.
I do talk much more on the phone now I’m definitely old.
But this morning the day looks quiet.....the wind has dropped, no rain splatters on the windows....there’s no excuse I have to go out.
A garden centre several miles away looks an attractive visit...
I don’t need any plants but that’s never stopped me from going to look!
Life here is quiet right now with few visitors.
I have even contemplated a stroll on a nearby beach...but this still feels odd without a dog.
So how to use my clear day is not really a problem...there are lots of options but they are all dependent on my car starting...so I’d better get on with it.
Maybe getting dressed would help!

I hope that your car started and that you managed to get out on the trip to the Garden Centre.

As I use my car daily, I don't wish to contemplate not driving. At my retinal scan on Monday, I was advised that my cataracts are developing more, which means either an operation in due course, or stopping driving. Also, it will affect my ability to read, which is a worse thing to contemplate.

Getting old is no fun, but there nothing to be done to change things, no magic medicine to bring back youth (so far), so will have to live with the consequences.
