Small things are proving harder to do as the ageing process proceeds.
I spent far too much time yesterday applying for my driving license. It’s that time of the year again!
At my age no money is involved but I do have to get the questions right. Last year it was easy. I don’t drive far these days but I do need to be able to get around the Roseland! This year the application involved two phone calls to the help line! Arghhhh!
They now tell me the new bit of plastic is coming in the post!
A couple of phone calls last night informed me that two old travelling companions have booked for the next cruise which isn’t until May so it’s not imminent. I’m not sure if I’m pleased or not.
My greying hair has succeeded in transforming my appearance. I now look old as well as feeling old.
Retirement is suiting me.
Putting the polo neck sweaters away now the weather is Spring like is the job for this morning. . Converting from the winter to summer wardrobe is a welcome job.
I have friends arriving in a couple of weeks. There is no time to be dull.
Great Britain is in trouble I hear...Brexit has struck again!
It all feels weird. But interesting....no one could be bored right now!
And I’m not!

All sounds good around the Roseland.
Here it is busy, but our new parish priest starts on 4th May, he is already in the vicarage with his four children, the first time it has been filled for some 15 years, earlier were all in their fifties with families flown the nest.
And his spouse is involved in Ministry with children and as an Anna Chaplain, which promises much for our Sunday School and teenagers and older people with early onset dementia. A group that I minister too as well.
I am preparing to apply for my driving license, for the 1st time as a
70 year old. As I have a recent passport, the online process promises to be simple, but I will wait to see how it works.
And, I am having to look towards PTO as well, I hope that the process is uncomplicated. My former supervisor community deacon, had to wait for six months for hers, only recently given. Now she can officiate and preach once more. Which is good, as she can also supervise me once again.
My spouse points out that this is worse than the Armed Forces for documentation requirements and identity checks and safeguarding etc, but it is necessary DBS as well of course.
When I went into a school last week to take Easter Assemblies, I was asked for my DBS?? As if I carried it with me? They had checked when we made arrangements, but they didn't tell their reception staff.
Our new Incumbent has children in the school, which makes for good liaison with them in the future
