Weird news items.

The strange period we are living through makes for some very confusing news. Mrs May has promised to resign but refuses to say when!
The relationship between America and China is growing worse daily.
An architect has offered plans for rebuilding Notre Dame with solar power and futuristic glass screens.
Last nights "Have I got News " for you has been pulled by the Beeb at the last minute suggesting the Beeb is joining in the slightly hysterical feel we are all witnessing
Danny Baker made a daft tweet about the new Royal baby and his show got pulled off the air.
Ireland and Britain have declared climate emergencies but no one seems to be taking much notice!
Kim Jong Un is seen posing with North Korea’s military.
Mr Trump has ramped up the US and China trade war whilst still trying to hide his tax returns.
Another headline for today’s news says,"Baby giraffe gets therapeutic shoes!"
We have a new royal baby called Archie!
New Zealand have a coffin club! What?
Facebook is suing a South Korean social media company!
Have we all been invited to join in the mayhem or are we doomed to be the amazed witnesses to what appears to be global chaos?
Arghhhh!

Our reality is 24 hr news media.

Before the Internet, we'd have not been aware of half of the things that you point to today. And most might have been a tiny paragraph in the Daily Mirror (other papers existed than)

When I meet people who don't have computers, smart phones or even TVs or rely on radio local or national (The Light Program - whatever happend to that?) for their news, but who are alive to what is happening in their own patch, I realise how we have all been sucked into the great plan for us to be consumers.

Perhaps I should drop out entirely and become a "Beatnik" or "sofa surfer" as that seems to be the place where the only thing that is important is where will the next meal come from.

My spouse might have something to say about that, but fortunately, she doesn't do social media or TV news, just reads a newspaper occasionally to keep up with the Royal Family. She knows about Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, but doesn't subscribe to Royal Adoration, its more about loyalty and an oath of allegience she took when she joined the Army, all of those years ago, and as we still have the same Queen now as than, all is well with the world.
