Compost?

Some time over the weekend I clearly lost my mind somewhere...instead of going to the local nursery to get some  much needed compost for planting out baby plants and filling up holes appearing in the paved    area I sent for some via the internet.    This morning a very large parcel will arrive . It will be too big for me to pick up and carry so my first job will be to get out the wheel barrow. Persuading the carrier to place my parcel in the wheel barrow might be tricky depending on which door he arrives at.  The local drivers who deliver here mostly use my front door and that would be easy.   Leaving a huge parcel by the back door would mean negotiating several steps.

So I have to go on red alert today with my eyes pealed for delivery vans.  I now regret that I ordered this large amount of  compost which I may find difficult to move until my gardener arrives at the end of the week. There is a real danger that a very large parcel will sit outside for several days.  That is presuming it will be contained in a plastic bag. If it’s loose then I am in trouble. What looked like a good idea a few days ago now just looks daft...

It’s not often I order something on a quiet day which I then regret... but this one looks problematic.

It’s just one more daft ness that occurs when I forget my age and do something that used to be easy but would now be a problem.

To add to the general angst it’s windy outside to I am assuming the compost will be contained  in plastic or it could just get blown away!  As well as the wind, raindrops patter on my window....the climate has changed in a day.   We have gone from tropical heat to Autumnal chill in a day.

So once more I am regretting the daft impulse in ordering something . It’s too late to cancel it so I just have to deal with what ever arrives and hope it will fit into a wheel barrow.

It could be worse....at least it shouldn’t be smelly...fingers crossed...

It is one of the wonders of the world, internet buying.

But it can be a pain if we forget that we are a little bit more frail than we were 10 or even five years ago.

I hope that your compost arrives in bags or it could be a total disaster, as loose compost decorates the whole neighbourhood to the advantage of your close neighbours. Not often you get free compost blown into your garden.
