Decisions!

Reading the various accounts involving Boris Johnson, Donald Trump and various members of the EU establishment it’s impossible to think of our Prime Minister as a responsible grown up. This morning he is arguing  with Mr Tusk as to which of them is Mr No Deal.   Arghhh! Come on chaps, this is not a game....it matters to us all and I can’t be alone in wanting some grown up responsible politics whilst we make our way into a new situation.

If Boris believes that his apparently good relationship with the American president is going to be a factor in trade discussions I fear he may be in for a shock. The sight of Trump and Boris taking centre stage in any policy discussion is positively scary!

The photgraphs of Boris grinning inanely does nothing to reassure me. Tusk and Pelosi are by standers in this ritual bit of high level posturing but both of them are capable of bringing the other two down to earth with a bump!

I  don’t trust Trump or Boris I’m afraid...and I worry that all our fates are in their hands.

Johnson’s statement that there are massive opportunities here, to prise open the American market is meant to reassure us.  But they don’t...both Trump and Johnson are playing to their own personal fans....by telling us what they think we want to hear. None of it looks promising with two huge egos on display daily. It would be great to think that these two gentlemen can hammer out a deal which will benefit everyone  and that is how it’s going to get played on both sides of the Atlantic. But realistically we need the rest of the world too and especially Europe for our economy to grow...

Having all the decisions in the hands of Boris and Trump does not fill me with joyful anticipation. Our world gets smaller in these days of instant communication. This weekend will be one of forming relationships...I just wish I could feel more confident in our Prime Minister.

Jean, you must remember that the media only show you what they want to show you - and they are anti-Boris. Facebook has had plenty of pro-Brexit videos and statements of clever, influential people.

Also, on a day when the Amazon forest is burning, I am surprised you have written about Trump and Boris! What about having a pop at the politicians over there who do not give a fig and who have encouraged farmers and locals to clear and burn areas of the Amazon?

I write about what most concerns me when I first wake up... I clearly don’t go looking for things...and not writing about anything doesn’t mean I don’t care... but first thing in the morning is often when I am able to comment. I then catch up later...but you seem to have lots of ideas...do you jot them down anywhere?
