Five G?

One more time I am frustrated by the difficulty in using the internet in my own home. Some days it’s easy.. today it’s not. Already this morning  my attempts at publishing a comment on yesterday’s blog has somehow got caught in the detritus of publishing.

There is no easy way of finding out how hard or easy it’s going to be until I actually  start....today it’s just frustrating.

It does have something to do with how many of us locally are trying to use it. We are currently full . But by the end of the week the exodus will be underway. Far be it from me to rejoice...I used to be one of those people who left going home till it was almost the last day before me and the children had to start school.   But now I live here all these people just get in the way.....

But I can wait....tomorrow an old friend is driving me to the dentist...so I’ll be part of the traffic flow too. .

So just now all I have to do is push the "publish" button!   Sounds easy doesn’t it but as yet I’ve failed to persuade it to publish a comment on yesterday’s post.

On the radio I hear that the plan is to put 5G in place in rural areas.   I am struggling still to use 4G....on some days it’s more like minus G.

But it’s my choice to live in a beautiful spot so I really shouldn’t grumble. But when did that ever stop me? Arghhhhhh!

5g might help, but fibre broadband is the long term solution for many rural communities. It is promised by the government, and we all know what government promises might mean. Old promises trotted out under a new title.

I have 4g broadband and it is supplied by my mobile supplier. It isn't reliant upon cables or anything else. Sky keep cajoling me to take their broadband package, but it far more expensive than my current package. They give you a big discount for a few months, than the full package price is implemented.

For one third of their price I have band width more than I need and have had this package upgraded for nearly 10 years now. Each time I come to upgrade, my price seems to go down, so I make inquires often to see if I can reduce the price a little more. Keen to keep my custom, they invariably give me a slightly better price.

I still have a dial up modem for standby, but have not used it in years. So, probably now redundant. I have been offered a 5g sim card for my broadband, but it would increase the price, so I won't bother until it becomes a necessity.
