Bank Dividend!

Most days I check my bank account to make sure that all is well.  And if there’s something there that I don’t recognise I find out!

It’s very efficient. Paying for my supper last night whilst I was out with friends I find the amount spent at the local pub already there.

But another entry has made me grin with pleasure.

IMy first husband David worked for  Nat  West all his working life. Instead of taking his various bonus’s in cash he always accepted bank shares which I inherited after his death.  When it was taken over by RBS he was not happy...and even less happy when it collapsed.

Today he would be feeling a bit better!   There in my account is an amount I failed to identify immediately. It’s been a while....

In the early stages of my training for the priesthood the bank dividends paid for my books, my cassocks and everything else I needed.

Since then during years of no dividends being paid I’ve been philosophical about it all....I am emotionally involved obviously. But this morning I’ve spotted the good news... RBS are paying dividends again.....only tiny amounts compared to its glory days...but there they are, safe in my current account...

As it’s now owned by the country I have no way of knowing what’s going to happen in the future but just this morning...it feels good...RBS is on its way back to being the bank my husband worked for and had faith in.     Thank you God!

Its a sign of their recovery. I don't have much in the way of investments, although we have savings, which are in bonds and other stuff, none of which are paying much. We need to move them, but having the time to go to the various banks to sort them out is a pain.

We will do it when my spouse takes some time off soon.
