With what feels like inevitable stress I tried to start the packing yesterday and got a bad back! I had got my suitcases out during the week but the moment I started to search for my cruise clothes the bad back descended. Carting stuff up and down stairs is not as hard as it might be because I still have the electric stair lift that I put in for my husband. This is the moment that I keep it for...I can pile much of the heavy stuff on it. The bad back protests though so today I may well start to use it myself...
I am just getting too old for all this I think! Right now I can get no enthusiasm for travelling in my head. I know I will love it once on board but taking all the steps to get me there is proving hard work!
My frequent visitors have now been politely advised that I need some time on my own... and I think they will honour this but just starting to get stuff in the case is a daunting process when it used to be full of joyful expectations.
Oh dear...
Going south means that the weather should be kind once past the dreaded Bay but right now my head just refuses to feel any of the joyful anticipation . I expect it will all be alright...I have plenty of time left...I just hope my bad back improves today...Packing used to be a joyful anticipation! Arghhhh!

You need an action plan for packing to minimize the carrying stuff around.
Perhaps locating all of the things you need. Placing them in neat piles on a bed alongside the suitcases, than pack methodically, making a list of which goes where (to help you remember when on the voyage) and than, only than, move the cases to the stair lift to send them downstairs.
We use this method and it works, although sometimes we forget something at the start and once forgotten might cause a last minute panic to get it into a case.
Mind you, we haven't had such a holiday for some years, normally just over night ones, which are easy to pack for. At least normally so. I can recall going for a weekend retreat without an outer coat which was a bit naughty, as rain was forecast. Luckily I had a rolled up wet jacket in the car, which had to suffice. Lesson learned.
