I woke up very early this morning. It was still dark outside. At this time of the year that’s not unusual as we are approaching the shortest day. So I got up. I went downstairs to check something. It was not urgent...it didn’t really matter but off I went anyway just as the first glimmers of light were breaking .
What I checked was the latest envelope from Cunard...and yes they had sent me the luggage labels to ensure that my suitcase will be safely delivered to my state room on the Queen Mary. Why that had been important to me is a mystery...but there they were. So off I went back to bed. But not to sleep. Because having checked one thing my mind then went on to several other details to be sorted out.
The next thing is to change my payment details for all sorts of thing. At the start of a new month several regular payments had not been made since I have had to change my card details. So that’s my first job. But for the moment I’m back in bed...trying to enjoy the novelty of not rushing out to various churches on Sunday morning.
It’s light now outside and very quiet out there....no wind, no rain, all is well so I can relax.....in theory!
I will get more packing done today...so the cases are now out. Which has reminded me of the one I’ve lost since my last trip. It’s still lost. Its replacement is now waiting in the spare room. But I was hoping that it would turn up like magic . However it is still absent without leave....the mystery remains!
Bumbling about the house checking stuff that doesn’t need checking has tired me abit...so it being Sunday I might just doze off now...night all!

It is those small niggles that keep us awake. If the house opposite was burning down, we'd give a thought to the safety of the occupants, but probably not to the fire itself, unless it was a major disaster.
I find myself waking up like you do, just not sure what I haven't done or need to do. If I get up, that's it, I can't go back to bed for some reason, so I have a nap on the sofa, normally with a cat alongside me to keep me warm.
Having to change your payment details is a pain, I hope it goes well and all of the bills are paid. You don't need the those big burly men banging on your door, demanding payment.
