Leaving Europe!

I actually wanted to weep yesterday , watching Britain leaving the European Parliament. To plunge us into a new political system at this stage feels entirely wrong. i really hope it isn’t. No way of government can ever satisfy everyone. We want quiet lives , not exciting, or dynamic. I am of course only speaking for my age group not the young. but did we all really vote for this level of change? And if we did , did we understand it? As we have no way of knowing what is coming up I just hope it’s not too radical. I know the local fishermen are hoping for much better rules than are currently in place. As they have been breaking various rules for years it seems that banning the European fishing fleet may not give us the freedom to fish we always have had.....in theory. Most of us are aware that the rules have not always been kept...So we are in a new phase. We are not yet actually out of Europe until the end of the month, tomorrow and I hope I’m wrong but right now it feels appalling to be retreating into a solitary position...standing alone simply lacks the joy that being in a group of similar countries brought. As I get older change has become a dirty word...I don’t want it...but I also recognise that people much younger than me will see this as a challenge and a start of something wonderful. We shall see...but it will come as no surprise to hear that my prayers are ascending.....I wish I knew what for!

Like you Jean, I feel something almost like grief at the idea of being separated from Europe, especially at a time when our main Alli appears to be under the leadership of a pschycotic child.
Prayer does appear to be our only hope at this crossroads in our history.

People have been asking will we be ringing our church bell etc for Brexit. The answer is NO, because we don't believe that we should be seen to take sides in the debate.

What I find so loathsome is the ones who are calling it a Glorious Victory. In my view that sort of patriotism is something I totally disagree with.
