Shopping

I slept late and got up in a hurry when I realised that my groceries were due to arrive within the half hour. Being able to shop on line is a great treat in my old age. Not having to get the car moving, find a parking place and carry the heavy stuff in is wonderful though I make sure I do use the village shops at least once a week. What I don’t do very often is drive into Truro . I know it’s there if I need it but it must be at least a year since I did it. Getting to New York is more of a habit these days! I would find it hard to live here without a car...the odd bus does pass my door a couple of times a day but not often enough to be sure of getting home! So having stuff delivered is simply wonderful. They bring it into my kitchen, we exchange views on the weather and they are off. Wonderful! Occasionally something I’ve ordered isn’t available so they put in a substitute. I always accept these even if they are weird...if all else fails I pass stuff on to my cleaner or my gardener. I know how fortunate I am in old age and this stops me from grumbling much about anything. Even when I’m reminded that my days on earth are numbered it really doesn’t matter. There are still a couple of things on my to do list which sits firmly in my head throughout all the dramas or dullnesses. But first before planning my next trip I need to take delivery of the food and drink about to appear. I am now dressed so bring it on...I’m ready! I think!

We like going shopping together on a Friday afternoon, as we take time for Lunch (Jen works all week) and go around the shop(s) slowly and often comment on prices, looking for bargains. No doubt, before long, we might resort to online, but not just yet.

Now Jen has a long weekend, we can actually go out together to do more leisure things, which will include lunch, because I do all of the cooking (being a house husband) and I will get a break from that. And no preaching for a couple of weeks, so time to chillax.
