Last week I spent far too long putting out the rubbish. One week they take the black bin containing the household waste but the next week they will take all the bigger stuff and garden waste etc. I have a big enough garden not to use that one but getting all the bottles out and in the right box or bag is exhausting . It’s enough to make a girl go teetotal! The biggest problem are the cardboard boxes. Yesterday I had five to jump on. And then, suitably squashed down , put outside for everyone to see! I always worry about this and I now realise why David did this on Sunday morning whilst I was in church. It would be much easier during the week..when I’m not wearing good clothes. However not having been to church recently that problem has been sorted...I think. Compared to the other two houses close by I don’t have far to go...but even so ....one of the firms I’ve been using to get interesting food, send everything out in heavy cardboard boxes which are very sturdy. And not easy to squash properly.
I know last time I moaned about this several of you told me how to overcome it but as yet I am unwilling to officially count myself as an old woman....even if I am! So yesterday I cancelled the food delivery that arrives in sturdy boxes. And then felt bad enough about it for me to phone them to explain.
This odd period we are surviving through hopefully won’t go on and on for too long...but if it does I have to at least try to survive...I’m not ready to give up yet...but I am not jumping on any more boxes...

I still wonder why they use sturdy boxes, which will be recycled? Why do they not recover them on the next delivery for reuse? It must be costing them a fortune as well as the lack of environmental awareness they are demonstrating.
If you choose to go back to them, ask them to deliver in bags, not boxes. They might just listen, although they might just decide that your custom isn't one they want to have.
The alternatives are probably quite small for you, unless you can find a "Secret Shopper" who shops for you and delivers it all to your doorstep in bags. Not easy either, but there must be lots of support for a vulnerable, mature lady in solitary confinement?
I suppose the motto must be "keep on, keeping on", particularly with the booze boxes.
I simply flatten the boxes by using a knife to slit the sticky tape flatten them by just folding and secure with string and leave by the recy,in bin. Job done.
