Daft ideas!

Of all the silly things that worry me the one I am finding hard to live with is that I have yet to find a way of sending a letter without going out. I live a long way out of the village and the nearest post box is also a couple of miles away. I can easily drive to it..but somehow I’m putting it off...I have also thought of catching the postman next time he arrives here in his van and asking him to pop it into the post for me. I am aware that that’s just daft but that’s the nature of being alone for weeks on end...illogical thinking wins in all sorts of daft choices. On line shopping is a daily temptation which I am trying to resist...but I don’t always succeed judging by the emails telling me of some unlikely purchases over the last few days. Altogether this period of lockdown is leading to some daft thoughts so I must do my best not to act on them. My cleaner didn’t turn up yesterday so I have some work to do today which is good...pushing the vacuum cleaner around will be good for me I’m sure..It’s all very trivial, very tedious and I am ashamed of my failure to cope well with such silly little things like getting a letter in the post. The sooner we all get back to normal the better I think. But reading the news from around the world it’s good to realise that many of us are in the same boat...so I will try not to go on line shopping every day. I have an email this morning telling me my personal alarm is on is way. This I remember is a very small disc to attach to my key which will screech very loudly when pressed..Oh dear...I must resist all these good ideas...especially as the sound of my personal alarm isn’t going to reach anyone...it would only work if you live in a town... so no more daft ideas..I will concentrate on the housework.....probably. ....

Perhaps your gardener would take your letter and post it for you. You can print off stamps online from Royal Mail website. Just a thought?

If we were completely back to normal I imagine you would get in your car and go post your letter. But there’s nothing stopping you from doing that anyway if the letter is important. It might even do you good to go for a little drive to the village.
