An outing!

My old friend wanted to take me out yesterday. When I told him that I had stayed quietly at home for months he took charge. We only drove as far as the nearest village wearing our masks. It was the first time I had been down there for ages and it felt very strange. First we just stood and looked out to sea and then he took me for a walk along the sea wall. When he steered me up a very a very steep hill I realised where we were heading. He took me to church! I was very glad to find it open. Stepping inside I felt the peace tangible inside. He is not religious in any way but even he obviously felt the peace. Walking back into the village , still wearing our masks the strangeness of our situation swept over us both. We went to the cah machine in the car park before driving home. As an outing it was very different but very satisfying. We had talked about going to the pub for either a drink or lunch but in the end coming home was a better idea for us both. But I had been out! The world still existed. taking me to the church where I first met my husband was a wonderful idea. i appreciated it whilst being shocked by how different everything feels. Nothing is normal now.... We just have to get on with it!

Good morning Jean. How fabulous! What a wonderful friend you have, thoughtful and he obviously knows you so well.
A day to tuck into your scrapbook of beautiful memories.
You are right, nothing is normal and it seems certain that we will be living in these strange times for months to come.
Hope today goes well 😊
