Going out!

I was not disappointed yesterday when the artist arrived with my new picture herself...I just hadnt realised the painter was female. But the picture is beautiful and now hangs on the wall by the stair lift. So yesterday went well. Mostly. But reading the papers this morning show a different story. The virus is winning. All our lives have changed.... we are cautious now about who we invite into our homes, or talk to face to face...Down here in Cornwall we only have small pockets of it...so far. I have to admit that my visits to the care home in the next village have stopped. For the time being...the people in charge are only allowing close relations to visit their loved ones...which lets me off the hook and gives me a valid reason for not going. We are still able to consol ourselves that we are much better off than the rest of the country but still....the threat exists and its easier to just stay at home. I do have to go into St Mawes soon for essential supplies of St Mawes gin! Until yesterday I had no idea that this beverage existed...but I now have two bottles of it put by for when I can get there! Alcohol seems a good enough excuse! Plus no one knows of any cases of illness for miles! It would be all too easy to become complacent about this when the evidence shows just how fast it can travel! My car needs a run out so sometime soon I might venture forth. But maybe not today....its dark and gloomy outside ....a good refection on how we are all feeling right now! So sitting tight, sampling the St Mawes gin when it artives sounds like a good idea. I may end up drinking too much if I am not careful... but its a risk I am prepared to take! I think!

Good morning Jean. Yes, your area is in a better position than many. You can go out and I believe can have visitors into your house. We have to meet outside in Suffolk which is in Tier Two. I hope people everywhere stick with the restrictions- we are so close to getting the vulnerable vaccinated and the news this morning is great. But we mustn’t become complacent for the sake of a few months!
Your gin sounds fabulous. I will look it up online!!

Going out is a necessity for me. This morning I went to the Chemist to pick up repeat medicines for myself. Its about 1/4 mile walk, so it is good exercise. I could jump in a car, but parking is not possible without payment. So cheaper and more beneficial to walk.

I was caught out by how cold it was, I went with a single top and light jacket and realised half way there that I was actually freezing, despite walking briskly. But I passed the barbers shop, which had a line of people in there, and only one barber had turned up. I have arranged an appointment for early on Friday, Demand is great as so many people have allowed their hair to sprout in all directions as is mine. Last lockdown I used clippers to cut my hair, with some surprising results, which I don't want to repeat.
