Survival!
So on we go. My weekend was blessedly quiet. ....several phone callers checked thst I was still alive. I think I was able to reassure them. Memory is a wonderful thing. I have recalled past years and important events in my life with incredulity. I seem to have covered a lot of ground..literally. My upbringing in Lancashire was never easy, having an alcoholic father but my great escape got me away from the rows and disturbances at home. I still remember my joy at being accepted for college . It meant leaving home to live with a couple of hundred girls . What I learned in those days in college was far more important than the Literature which was my best subject. Going out on teaching pratice was educational in its own special way. I saw that I was not alone. Other families coped with difficult parents too. In the aftermath of us being at war lots of things were scarce...even bread was on ration once. I did most of our shopping...which really just meant I got into a queue and waited my turn to pick up the meagre rations that were supoosed to last us a week. I have remembered so much in lockdown from those times. They were hard but we survived! ...most of us anyway. And we will survive this too. God willing.

Good evening Jean. So pleased to read you had phone calls from friends over the weekend. It is so lovely to have a chat with real person and not just through words on a screen!!
Thank you for sharing your reminiscences with us.
Hope you have escaped the snow we are battling in Suffolk. Some of the vaccine sites have been shut today because of treacherous roads.
Take care.
