Post!
Tuesday....all day! As far as I know I am not expecting anyone to arrive today. It is still very quiet out there...I think people here on holiday last week have gone home now..it really feels as though I am actually alone, apart from my neighbours! Today I am lying in wait for the postman. Over the last week he has got into the habit of leaving in my porch all the post for the other houses here. I dont mind doing his job for him some of the time but this has become a daily habit! And I will not be taking the other letters and parcels around any more! So my door is going to stay locked today. If he had had the good manners to ask me to help I would have been happy to do so most days but I do object to him walking into my hall to leave the bundle on my mat and expecting me to take them round. He is not our usual postman....who would not take it for granted...he is I think new to this round. Our usual postman is lovely...a pleasure to greet most days.. but the new one has made me cross...I dont like being taken for granted... OK I know I am being far too sensitive about this but I need to make sure he understands...I am not collecting the post for all four houses every day! Oh dear! Having read through what I have written I now feel embarrassed...but not enough to change my mind! So there!

Good morning Jean.
What a cheek! I am guessing it’s because the relief postman is either ignorant of the set up with your group of properties or is lazy! Hope you ‘catch him’ today and point out the error of his ways! I would also be a tad cross. We had a similar issue with a particular relief postie. So bad that I actually reported him. And discovered I wasn’t the only one!
Hope it’s not too hot for you today. I noticed an Amber heat weather warning for the West. Keep cool!!
If I was your neighbour I would be furious to find out the postman was leaving my post for another neighbour to deliver. Why would he even do that? Post is private and should be safely posted not left in someone else’s porch. He would be in serious trouble if his bosses knew he was doing that.
Stick to your guns and don't do his job for him. He is just lazy.
The post office is contracted to deliver to the addressee and not to an alternative address, nor to leave the post for someone who it is not addressed to. What if someone has a valuable like a bank card in that letter, or some other valuable. What if the postman tells his boss the letter was left with you?
If they are unable to deliver the post man should take the post back to the sorting office, or leave a card for the addressee telling them where they can collect their mail.
You are quite within your rights to refuse to act as his messenger, he has a cheek expecting you to do it. So, good for you, preventing his being so lazy.
