When we got to church this morning all was quiet after yesterdays bustle with both a wedding and a christening. Suddenly in they swooped. They were in good voice too. The swifts soared up and down the church, sat on high beams and twittered. Yesterday the entire church had been mopped to prevent anyone landing in the droppings so we were not best pleased. They followed the service quite well until I got up to read the gospel. That did it. They left the building! I am not sure if it was my voice or the content but they then stayed out until the end when a visitor left the door open again. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
The funeral I am doing then is in a different church. Let's hope the swifts don't arrive there!
