American TV
Watching several different TV channels on this ship it is striking that they seem to have different news than we get in England. They feature reported stuff on Trump we have missed out on the details over here.
No structure funding issue escapes comment.
What happened last year with regard to Russia's influence has taken centre stage...MSNBC and Fox are asserting several actually criminal moves by Trump...I'm not sure how they are getting away with this but I imagine Trump and his supporters must be under threat right now.
Who is there to speak truth to power?
Not one. I have heard this phrase over the last few days...
One station, Morning Joe uses this question over and again.
They have looked into all the tweets emanating from the president...some of which are definitely threatening...
He has been attacking those people who on paper are in his court...his sacking of Comey and his undermining of Mueller is very telling...
Whether or not he was helped into office by the Russians takes up a lot of air time...I have listened to some very heated arguments on the news programs.
He still finds it necessary to go on attacking Hilary Clinton...and his attacks on all things set up by Obama shows a bizarre need to establish himself as the saviour of America if not the entire world.
A certain secrecy is evident too....they are keeping some schedules shielded from the media.
All this as Trump claims credit for bringing back Happy holidays after trying not to be over Christian by saying Happy Christmas.
The whole thing is making me glad that the worst thing we in this country have to worry about is how Mrs May can can get us out of the Brexit situation.
Don't all shout at once!

The thing about the USA media is that have total freedom to print and to say what they want, and libel cases are rare and hard to prove - hence Trump's description of most of his critics as fake news.
But the truth will out eventually. And he will be impeached, because he is dishonest and a proven liar and sex pest.
I don't dwell on either Trump or Brexit, because they're in so many ways, the false and dishonest. The British Public were sold a pup by the Brexiteers and are now paying the penalty.
I know that we can't roll back the clock, but believe that if we had to have a referendum, there should have been more than one question, with a way of loading the answers towards out or in, to get a more representative view and outcome. But that is all in the past, we need to look forward to the future and whatever that might bring.
We can't ignore Europe, we are part of it, and now we need a partnership that does least damage to both us and to them. If we knocked a few politicians heads together, we might get a national consensus.
