Well! The snowfall yesterday was much worse than expected and more is promised for today. We have an amber warning of snow in place for today!
There’s not much moving outside right now! And it is snowing.
Old memories are surfacing mostly from our time in North Wales. The Christmas Eve fall of snow which left us without electricity or any means of cooking our turkey meant that Christmas morning was spent on the lower slopes of Moel Famau with the dog and the children playing very happily.
Far more good memories than bad exist of the effects of snow as our children grew.
On one occasion my daughter had gone out with my husband to look at the skating close by. They were not home when expected and I was getting worried when they turned up.
My daughter was giggling...
I asked why they were so late back. She giggled some more.
David had lost his glasses in the snow after a snowball had caught him unaware.
When they uncovered them the specs wouldn’t move. They were iced in. The poor man was very short sighted. He really needed his specs and he knew that they would never find them again if they left the spot.
After several attempts to get them out of the ice he had had a good idea.
"He told me not to look mum" Rosalind was still giggling.
David was quite pleased with himself.
" I couldn’t just leave them in the ice could I ?"
He had freed his spectacles from the ice by using his own supply of warm liquid.
"I hope you are going to wash them now" I said looking at his face wearing his newly released specs!
"Bit late for that!"
We laughed a lot over that one.
A lot of snow needn’t be all bad news......
