Yesterday was quite simply very scary. Various colours of warnings filled the forecasts.
My big shop from Tesco booked for the morning simply couldn’t get through.
I then lacked milk which was not a real problem.
During the worst of the day an old friend arrived in his Range Rover. I had arranged to pick up my prescription from the local chemist at the beginning of the week. A phone call to the pharmacy established that yes it was ready. The very kind chemist offered to bring it for me . He was shutting up for the day to get home whilst he could.
My old friend then offered to take me down into St Mawes...I could get milk as well as the tablets...so off we went through unbelievable scenes of ice and snow.
He dropped me off hastily before getting back to the next village before I got snowed in.
And snowed in I was. The amber weather warning was not an exaggeration. Snowed piled up outside my front door.
Inside the house I gave grateful thanks for the chaps who had got my heating on at the beginning of the week!
Tonight I have tickets for a concert and supper in the next village. I have no idea whether it will be possible.
For this situation to happen in sub tropical St Mawes is unbelievable. If I had forecast it at the beginning of the week no one least of all me would have believed it.
I can manage fine now with the food in the house..I just hope I don’t run out of Scotch....

I was talking to a friend yesterday, who's family originates from your area, he says that he (when he was there) never imagined or saw any snow at all. He is now, 92 years old. So, you are obviously suffering from the effects of climate change, like the rest of us. I have managed to get out and about so far, and today I will be opening the church so that warmth and hot drinks are available for waifs and strays, as we've had to cancel all other church activities due to the difficulties of those who run them, actually getting to church to open them up.
Wish me good luck, but it's only a 10 minute walk on slippery pavements and I have stout boots to wear if needed.
Well....good luck of course! I am shocked now to find that my gardener is here...I’m not sure what he will do....in the past I’ve tried to send him home. He just won’t go!
I now have to leave my bed to get him a hot drink....arghhhh
