Day at home.

Spring Bank holiday is here again so this is the day when those of us who live here stay quietly at home.
Cornwall and especially St Mawes is very very full.
Parking a car in the village can be a problem right now so many of us make sure we don’t go in.
All these people are not bad news.
The shops and pubs rely on them.
The weather is glorious so the beaches will be busy too. In the old days I would always be out there swimming and playing with my children. Having an extra day with my loved ones was always busy and welcome.
Now in old age I value my quiet time.
People often pop in as they go past the house and I don’t mind that at all but mostly I am looking forward to a peaceful day, once my cleaner has departed.
During her hours here this morning we will drink coffee and talk about the state of world outside....and there’s a lot to talk about!
It’s a quiet life here at Tregear Vean . Thank you God.

I spent the morning with others in Open Church, exploring the archives of Parish Magazines going back 90 years, all bound into books.

I found the mention of my parents-in-law marriage at this very church (My parish) on 30 Aug 1952. Strange to see their names in print, as both are no longer with us. But I have been publishing some of the editions on our facebook page, which are being greeted by people viewing the adverts from long gone local businesses and also those from the War years the listing of the departed, monthly.

As they're also going up on our commmunity local history page, they're provoking much interest. Many of those families still live locally and finding their parents or grandparents marriages listed and other memories of the older generations is doing something to bring the community back in touch with each other. Many people who respond haven't seen each other for years, or have migrated as far as Australia and are now back in touch.

This is part of my vole for community action and doing it through the internet gets a wider audience as many of the older generation are tech savvy and are online.
