I lost something yesterday. My pendant which I wear at home to summon help if I need it was neither around my neck or in its usual place.
The Alfie pendant is not pretty. It sits on a string which is clearly visible when worn with light summer clothes. But I realised yesterday that I hadn’t worn it for a couple of days.
So the search started.
I looked everywhere, under the bed, in the bed, in pockets , in wardrobes.
I spent at least an hour getting crosser by the minute.
Eventually I rang the alarm number. They answered promptly. Help was available if I needed it.
I asked if they could activate the pendant so that I could trace it by sound.
They couldn’t.
The search continued. By this time I was getting both tired and cross.
Cross with myself mostly..
I finally rang them again. Could I please buy a new one?
I could . They would ring me back so that I could order one to be posted on to me.
I went to wait for the call in my office. In preparing for paying for it over the phone I reached for my purse to have the debit card ready.
And lo, there was my missing alarm!
I realised that on my last outing I had taken it off . That was last weekend...so I’d been without it for several days.
Oh dear! Poor old woman! Arghhhhh!

Welcome to the "Poor Old Bats" society Jean. I am a fully paid-up member.
Last evening I turned up for the Ascencion Day service got robed up with the (6) other choir members who had shown up and realised I had left my spec's at home.
Since i can read neither words nor music without them I had to La la all the way through the service.
It would not have mattered if there had been a full choir turnout, but we get very few for weekday evenings.
I will be glad to receive my new post op' spec's (3 pairs) so in future I will have no excuse.
It's the thought of forgetting something vital (like getting dressed) that worries me.
Ray I am happy to be part of the Poor Old Bats lot if it means standing side by side with you....us old bats have to stick together!
This isn't an issue. At least ydou didn't need to pay for a replacement.Sometimes we all have Grey moments or senior moments as they are described.
I do, often. Normally keys, but wallets or mobile are the normal victims. Jen says, she will tie things around my neck with a piece of string, but given your experience, probably not useful to stop me mislaying it.
