Cornwall is full.
Yesterday I was driving over to my old village to visit a very old friend. Getting there proved difficult.
My usual route takes me past a long car park which feeds a glorious local beach.
Usually it’s a quick route into the village but not yesterday.
I joined the slowly moving traffic but when I got to the road where I turn off I found my route blocked by another stream of traffic coming in the opposite direction.
I persevered. I knew where I was going and it was not to the beach!
Windows were wound down and I got shouted at several times by people misunderstanding my attempt to drive against the crowd.
A journey of ten minutes took me a good half hour....
I left my friend's house early not wanting another confrontation as people left the beach.
Before moving to St Mawes I could walk to this beach with my dog easily from my house . I do remember days like yesterday with joy.
In good weather the beach is perfect for a swim and my golden retriever always swam with me.
But negotiating the traffic yesterday made me glad that up here at Tregear Vean the road is busy but bearable.
I got visited yesterday by a family looking to borrow a cycle pump.
The thought of an entire family on bikes during this hot weather cheered me whilst searching through my barn...just in case I still had one. I hadn’t so they pushed on....
Cornwall is full.
