Man's work!

I need a bloke! Well I frequently do when things go wrong with the mechanics of the house...but..
It’s knowledge I need, not muscle.
I am ashamed of my ignorance on basic subjects....like electricity for instance.
Last night I realised that one of my plugs in the sitting room wasn’t working. I only realised this at dusk when I tried to turn a lamp on.
I have the main lights working, it’s just the lamps attached to one socket that are not coming on but they were until yesterday.
This is clearly not a serious problem..but it is annoying ...
I expect that a fuse or something has blown...but I have no idea how to fix it..
This morning I will try...though electricity is a bit scary....
Trying to find out what has happened involves moving a large sofa to peer behind it...for which I need daylight.
I wish I was a bit more knowledgeable. I feel stupid even asking for help just because two lamps won’t light up the gloom.
Phoning the local electrician fails to bring any response for weeks, if not months unless it’s something life threatening.....
I can live without the lamps...I just know that it’s probably something a bloke would be able to fix in seconds...arghhh!
Going out onto the streets to pull in any male passerby is looking good right now.. but I’ll fight it!
Much later
I managed it! By checking all the leads etc I then realised that the lamp was now working! So no need for a bloke!
